What makes a tea herbal is its absence of camellia sinensis leaves, from the naturally caffeinated tea plant, that produces black, white, green, and oolong teas. Herbal teas, also known as tisanes, contains no tea leaves at all, and instead get their flavor from fruits, roots, herbs and spices.
