Tea Blend Spotlight: Wild Berry Hibiscus

A good cup of tea can do many things, from soothing a troubled spirit to offering relief from illness. A truly special blend might hold transportive powers, carrying the imagination to another place or time altogether, whether it's a sumptuous garden or an island resort.

Tea Forté's Wild Berry Hibiscus tea is a lush, fruity-floral herbal blend with that precise kind of magic, transporting those who drink it to a first-class vacation in the tropics.

Wild Berry Hibiscus is available in Single Steeps, Loose Tea Canisters and our signature pyramid infusers.

TEA TO SOOTHE THE SOUL

This vivacious blend features a tart-sweet infusion of hibiscus petals, organic blackberry leaves, raspberries, apple, rosehip, orange peel, and just a touch of licorice root to bring it all into perfect balance. The result is a sumptuous, berry-forward tea that awakens the senses and mimics the sensation of enjoying a beachside cocktail at sunset. It can be consumed without accompaniment or with a touch of honey, sugar, or sweetener to fully embrace its plush, deep flavor profile.

A cup of Wild Berry Hibiscus tea engages all the senses in much the same ways a luxe getaway should. Its scarlet hue borders on violet, calling to mind the deep pink hue of the hibiscus petals it holds, and its fragrance is reminiscent of a tropical perfume. On the tongue, the almost candy-like tang of hibiscus gives way to the juicy sweetness of raspberry and apple, brought together in harmony by a balance of botanical ingredients including blackberry leaves, orange peel, rosehip, with a touch of licorice. Wrapping your hands around a cup evokes the warmth of the tropics themselves: the sun overhead, the waves at your feet, the feeling of unwinding while on vacation, even if just for a moment.

CAFFEINE-FREE HERBAL TEA

Wild Berry Hibiscus is an herbal tea that is 100% naturally caffeine-free, made with an array of botanical ingredients. Also referred to as "tisanes," herbal teas are generally an excellent choice any time of day or night, since they usually do not contain any tea leaves, known as camellia sinensis, or other natural stimulants.

However, some herbal teas may contain trace amounts of naturally-occuring caffeine, found in cocoa, cacao husk, or yerba maté, to name the more common ones. So if you are particularly sensitive to small amounts of caffeine, check the ingredients label on the box, or the caffeine level on each of our loose tea canisters and tea blend pages, to be sure your favorite herbal tea is 100% caffeine-free.

RECIPE HIGHLIGHT

Wild Berry Hibiscus Latte

The berry-focused & citrus-infused Wild Berry Hibiscus lends this drink the most beautiful natural lavender color. Enjoy it warm, or over ice, all year long.

Ingredients

  • • 1 tsp Tea Forté Wild Berry Hibiscus pyramid tea infuser, or 1 tsp of loose leaf tea
  • • 1/2 cup hot water
  • • 1 tsp honey or other sweetener
  • • 1/2 steamed whole milk with foam, hot or cold
  • • optional garnish: dried rose petals
  • • ice (for making an iced latte only)

Directions

  1. Place the pyramid tea infuser into a heat-proof mug, add the hot water and steep for 4 minutes. If using loose tea, scoop the tea leaves into an infusing basket, before steeping. If making an iced latte, double the amount of tea to 2 infusers or 2 tsp of loose leaf tea.
  2. When done steeping, remove the pyramid infuser and discard. If using loose tea, strain out the tea leaves and discard, reserving the steeped liquid.
  3. Add the honey and stir until combined.
  4. If making an iced latte, add 3 ice cubes to the glass to chill, or place in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Add the milk and top with foam. Garnish with a sprinkle of dried rose petals, if using. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Yield: One 8oz latte

A BOUNTY OF HERBAL BENEFITS

Both USDA and Kosher-certified, Wild Berry Hibiscus contains health-forward properties thanks to its hibiscus petals, which contain vitamin C, a nutrient needed for proper immune function, iron absorption, blood pressure management, and more. This, combined with its lack of caffeine and its deeply pleasurable, almost prosecco-like flavor profile, makes it a perfect stand-in for an alcoholic beverage in the evening, or even an ingredient in this sangria-inspired mocktail, pictured below.
